They impart grounded energy to someone who is fatigued-not nervous "caffeine-type" energy, and help ground people who are nervous and high-strung. All professionals and volunteers in the field of victim advocacy have a core foundation of values and attitudes that affects their perception of others, of their work environment, and of life in general. This approach crosses boundaries of geography and time, and "widens the net" of advocates who need, or are eager to provide, mutual support. Young men and women can suffer from its damaging, sometimes killing, effects. Unfortunately, stress is often not helpful and can even be harmful when not managed effectively. Anything becomes possible, if we can relax our mental, emotional, and physical grip on the past and learn to relax into an inspiring future. This program looks at the hidden behavior, stress, denial, and the cycle of guilt and shame that underlie eating disorders; shows how depression, low energy, desperation, serious medical complications, and even death can result; and explores their effects on family and friends. |
